3. Data Collection on This Website

How do we collect your data?

On the one hand, your data are collected when you provide them to us. This may include, for example, data you enter into a contact form. Other data are collected automatically or after your consent when you visit the website by our IT systems. These are primarily technical data (e.g. internet browser, operating system, or time of page access). These data are collected automatically as soon as you enter this website.

What do we use your data for?

Some of the data are collected to ensure the error-free provision of the website. Other data may be used to analyze your user behavior. If contracts are concluded or initiated via the website, the transmitted data will also be processed for contract offers, orders, or other service inquiries.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right at any time to obtain free information about the origin, recipient, and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the correction or deletion of these data. If you have given consent to data processing, you may revoke this consent at any time for the future. You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. You may contact us at any time with questions about data protection.

4. Hosting

We host the contents of our website with the following provider:

All-Inkl

The provider is ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, owner René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany (hereinafter “All-Inkl”). For details, please refer to All-Inkl’s Privacy Policy: https://all-inkl.com/datenschutzinformationen/

The use of All-Inkl is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in the most reliable presentation of our website possible. If corresponding consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s end device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent may be revoked at any time.

Data Processing Agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required under data protection law, which ensures that the provider processes personal data of our website visitors only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

5. General Information on Data Processing

Scope of the Processing of Personal Data

We generally process personal data of our users only insofar as this is necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services (including event registrations, evaluations, public relations, etc.). Personal data are generally processed only after prior consent by the user. An exception applies in cases where obtaining prior consent is not possible for factual reasons and/or where data processing is permitted by law.

Legal Bases for Data Processing

If you have consented to data processing, your personal data are processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR if special categories of data pursuant to Art. 9(1) GDPR are processed. In the case of explicit consent to the transfer of personal data to third countries, data processing is also based on Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR. If you have consented to the storage of cookies or access to information on your end device, processing is additionally based on § 25(1) TDDDG. The consent can be withdrawn at any time. If data are required for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures, processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. If processing is necessary to fulfill a legal obligation, it is based on Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR. As a public authority, Leipzig University may process personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR in conjunction with § 6(2) Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG) for the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest. Processing on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) only takes place if we are not acting in a sovereign capacity and a balancing of interests has been carried out in advance.

Storage Period

Unless a more specific storage period has been stated within this Privacy Policy, your personal data will remain with us until the purpose for data processing no longer applies.

If you assert a legitimate request for deletion or revoke your consent, your data will be deleted unless other legally permissible reasons for storage exist; in such cases, deletion will occur once those reasons no longer apply.

Recipients of Personal Data

In the course of our activities, we work with various external parties. In some cases, this requires the transfer of personal data. Personal data are only passed on if this is necessary for contract fulfillment, required by law, based on a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or permitted by another legal basis. When using processors, personal data are transferred only on the basis of a valid data processing agreement. In the case of joint processing, an agreement on joint controllership is concluded.

Revocation of Your Consent

Many data processing operations are only possible with your explicit consent. You may revoke consent at any time. The legality of data processing carried out prior to the revocation remains unaffected.

Right to Object to Data Processing in Specific Cases and to Direct Marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)

Where the processing of personal data is based on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The applicable legal basis for the respective processing can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, we will no longer process the personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or where the processing serves the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims (Art. 21(1) GDPR).

Where personal data are processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for such purposes; this also applies to profiling insofar as it is related to such direct marketing. If you object, the personal data will no longer be processed for direct marketing purposes (Art. 21(2) GDPR).

Right to Lodge a Complaint

In the event of violations of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement. The right to lodge a complaint exists without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies.

Right to Data Portability

You have the right to receive data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or for the performance of a contract, either directly or to a third party, in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be carried out to the extent that it is technically feasible.

Information, Rectification, and Erasure

Within the scope of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to obtain free information about your stored personal data, their origin and recipients, and the purpose of the data processing, as well as, where applicable, the right to rectification or erasure of such data. For this purpose, as well as for any further questions regarding personal data, you may contact us at any time.

Right to Restriction of Processing

You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. You may contact us at any time for this purpose. The right to restriction of processing applies in the following cases:

  • If you contest the accuracy of the personal data stored by us, we usually require time to verify this. For the duration of the verification, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • If the processing of your personal data was or is unlawful, you may request the restriction of processing instead of erasure.
  • If we no longer need your personal data for the purposes of processing, but you require them for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, you have the right to request the restriction of processing instead of erasure.
  • If you have objected to the processing pursuant to Article 21(1) GDPR, a balancing of interests must be carried out. As long as it has not yet been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.

Where the processing of your personal data has been restricted, such data may - apart from their storage - only be processed with your consent, or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a Member State.

SSL / TLS Encryption

This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or inquiries that you send to us as the website operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the change in the browser’s address line from “http://” to “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser bar.
If SSL or TLS encryption is enabled, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Objection to Advertising Emails

The use of contact data published as part of the legal notice requirements for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertising or informational materials is hereby expressly objected to. The operators of this website expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam emails.

6. Data Collection on This Website

Cookies

Our websites use so-called “cookies.” Cookies are small data packets and do not cause any damage to your device. They are stored either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (persistent cookies) on your device. Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Persistent cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them yourself or they are automatically deleted by your web browser.

Cookies may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by third parties (third-party cookies). Third-party cookies enable the integration of certain services provided by third parties within websites (e.g., cookies for processing payment services).

Cookies serve various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g., video display). Other cookies may be used, for example, to analyze user behavior.

Cookies that are required to carry out electronic communication, to provide certain functions requested by you, or to optimize the website (e.g., cookies for measuring web audience) (“necessary cookies”) are stored on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, unless another legal basis is stated. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies to ensure the technically error-free and optimized provision of its services. Where consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of such consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG); consent may be withdrawn at any time.

You can configure your browser to inform you about the setting of cookies and to allow cookies only in individual cases, to exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and to activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are disabled, the functionality of this website may be limited.

Details on which cookies and services are used on this website can be found in this privacy policy.

Server Log Files

The provider of this website automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. This information includes:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing device
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address

This data is not merged with other data sources. The collection of this data is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in ensuring the technically error-free presentation and optimization of the website; for this purpose, the collection of server log files is necessary.

Contact Form

If you submit inquiries to us via the contact form, the information you provide in the form, including the contact details you provide, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing your inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We will not share this data without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR if your inquiry is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in effectively handling inquiries addressed to us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), if such consent has been given; consent may be withdrawn at any time.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies (e.g., after your inquiry has been fully processed). Mandatory legal provisions, in particular retention periods, remain unaffected.

Inquiries by Email, Telephone, or Fax

If you contact us by email, telephone, or fax, your inquiry, including any personal data contained therein (e.g., name, inquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request.

The data you provide in inquiries via email, telephone, or fax will remain with us until you request deletion, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for storage no longer applies (e.g., after your request has been fully processed). Mandatory legal provisions, in particular statutory retention periods, remain unaffected.

7. This privacy policy applies to the following social media accounts

Data Processing by Social Networks

We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks. The specific social networks we use are listed below.

Social networks such as Facebook, X, and others can generally analyze your user behavior extensively when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g., like buttons or advertising banners). Visiting our social media profiles triggers numerous data processing activities. Specifically:
If you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media profile, the operator of the social media platform may associate this visit with your user account. Your personal data may also be collected even if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media platform. In such cases, data may be collected, for example, via cookies stored on your device or by recording your IP address.

Using the data collected in this way, social media platform operators can create user profiles containing your preferences and interests. This enables them to display interest-based advertising both within and outside the respective social media presence. If you have an account with the social network, interest-based advertising may be displayed on all devices on which you are or have been logged in.

Please also note that we cannot fully trace all processing activities carried out on social media platforms. Depending on the provider, additional processing may be performed by the operators of the social media platforms. For details, please refer to the terms of use and privacy policies of the respective social media platforms.

Legal Basis

Our social media profiles are intended to ensure a comprehensive online presence. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on different legal grounds, which are determined by the operators of the social networks (e.g., consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Controller and Exercise of Rights

When you visit one of our social media profiles (e.g., Facebook), we act as joint controllers together with the operator of the social media platform for the data processing activities triggered by this visit. You can generally exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and complaint) both against us and against the operator of the respective social media platform (e.g., Facebook).

Please note that despite the joint responsibility with social media platform operators, we do not have full control over the data processing activities of these platforms. Our options are primarily determined by the corporate policies of the respective provider.

Storage Period

Data directly collected by us through the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as you request deletion, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose of storage no longer applies. Stored cookies remain on your device until you delete them. Mandatory legal provisions, in particular retention periods, remain unaffected.

We have no influence over the retention period of your data stored by social network operators for their own purposes. For details, please refer directly to the respective social network operators (e.g., their privacy policies, see below).

Your Rights

You have the right at any time to obtain free information about the origin, recipients, and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to object, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority. Furthermore, you can request the correction, blocking, deletion, and under certain circumstances, the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
